There is something to be said for being in the right place at the right time. But I think like Matthew Quick in The Silver Linings Playbook: “Let me tell ya. You gotta pay attention to signs. When life reaches out with a moment like this, it's a sin if you don't reach back... I'm telling you.”
Now there are many more profound examples of this in life than the one I'm giving here, but this is a useful illustration because it is so wonderfully visual.
I had just set out to take a few more "in progress" shots of the agricultural building under construction at Reif Estate Winery, but when I found it empty of workers, I decided to take the opportunity to get some interior shots. And then the sun came out from behind the clouds and the light created the most magical shadows! The building spoke to me. I was transfixed.
I've shared some of the resulting images on Reif's Facebook and Instagram accounts, and on my own Winestains and personal pages as well, and I've been very gratified that people seem to be as struck by the images as I am.
I call this one "The Writing is on the Wall." Doesn't it look like the wall is trying to tell you something?
And this one is called "Window of Opportunity," inspired by my aunt Myrna Sweetman's comment on my Facebook page. It may be a doorway, but I think it looks like we hung a piece of vineyard art on the wall!

There is a lot to be said for being in the right place at the right time. But there is also a lot to be said for being ready, willing and able.
I had such a rewarding experience with this shoot. I'm really glad I "reached back"!
